My blog turns a few months old. Lots of stories published. No idea if anyone reads them.
I resisted analytics for a long time. Privacy, complexity, the feeling that tracking readers is just surveillance wearing a different hat.
But there’s a difference between tracking people and helping readers find what’s worth their time.
Starting a project: a privacy-first analytics system for my Jekyll blog. No cookies. No PII. Public counts on every post. A number on the page that says “this one resonated.”
Not to chase trends. To let people know.
