CC BY-NC 4.0: The License I Chose for This Blog

LinkedIn Post (Text-Only, Teaser)

I noticed a little badge in my blog’s footer — some Creative Commons license I hadn’t chosen. Turned out my Jekyll theme shipped with CC BY 4.0 embedded by default.

That sent me down a rabbit hole learning what these licenses actually mean, and more importantly, what mine should say about how people can use my writing.

I landed on CC BY-NC 4.0 — non-commercial, share freely, credit me, and if money’s involved let’s talk. A simple boundary that creates clarity without shutting down sharing.
